This is a forum where people can display their vinyl collections and talk about them with other users. Users can also keep track of their collections and newly announced vinyl. This site depends on user input: every vinyl is added by a user.
I got a record player for my 17th or 18th birthday, as well as all the old records my dad still had. There was some AC/DC from the late ’80s and early ’90s that he had traded with friends, as well as some other bands whose names and music I didn’t recognise.
It wasn’t until shortly after that I started buying my own vinyls. I started with Queen’s greatest hits, then moved on to some new AC/DC and Iron Maiden albums, and so on. I would listen to them while doing schoolwork or just hanging around in my room, either alone or with friends. Listening to physical music media became kind of a ritual for me. Nowadays, I mostly buy a vinyl if I like the album, or just an EP if it’s only one song.
My collection has grown quite large by now, and some of my friends have started collecting as well. One evening, we were talking online about our collections and sharing links to items we wanted to buy or announcements we were excited about. After a while, we asked ourselves if there wasn’t an easier way to share all of this. We discussed what such a site could look like.
I started working on this project soon after and have continued to do so ever since. I have wanted to test out some new technologies for a while, and now that Tanstack Start is pretty stable, I set myself the goal of creating a website, that everyone who experienced the same conversion as us this one evening, could use.
